Cybercab Robotaxi, Optimus, Cybervan - What’s Next From Tesla?

The world is warming to the poised AI evolution into RoboCabs and humanoid Robot ‘Optimus.’ With Elon Musk recently flashing and flaunting his Robotaxi on global channels, industries are expected to witness a whole new world order in smart technology. Elon Musk’s technological revelations are fueled by his keen interest in sci-fi and the classic Isaac Asimov novel “I, Robot.”

Prototypes were developed way back in 2006; Musk revealed his first Tesla Roadster in February 2008. It all began then! Elon Musk has always been at the forefront of the AI-powered technology wagon worldwide. His intense AI technology streak was brought to the floor with his smart Tesla Cyber Truck being launched and first delivered in November of 2023. Powerful AI chatbots have been his ‘first love.’

As the world opens to a new world technological order; it is evident that the competitive AI streak is not going to end here! His passion for the newest technologies on the block brings forth an array of smart tech innovations that are committed to churning out the best of artificial intelligence technology. Musk leads all aspects of Tesla, including product design, engineering, and global manufacturing. Let us talk about Musk’s evolutionary journey as an entrepreneur and delivering with the best of AI’s capabilities.

Tesla RoboTaxi

Formed to develop an electric sports car by Eberhard and Tarpenning; Musk contributed over USD 30 million and served as the chair of the company; and released the electric Roadster in 2008. It was followed by the Model S sedan, which was introduced in 2012, and the Model X SUV, which launched in 2015. Model S received Consumer Reports’ Best Overall Car and has been named the Ultimate Car of the Year by Motor Trend, while Model X was the first SUV ever to earn 5-star safety ratings in every category and sub-category in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s tests. In 2017, Tesla began deliveries of Model 3, a mass-market electric vehicle with more than 320 miles of range, and unveiled the Tesla Semi, which is designed to save owners at least $200,000 over a million miles based on fuel costs alone. In 2019, Tesla unveiled the Cyber truck, which will have better utility than a traditional truck and more performance than a sports car, as well as the Model Y compact SUV, which began customer deliveries in early 2020.

Power Wall, Megapack, Solar Roof, SpaceX, Falcon 9, Starlink, Neuralink, Zip2, the Boring Company, and much more in the offing- Musk is not going to stop any time soon! With Generative AI taking over the world by storm with crucial inventions taking place; Musk has brought forward yet another massive revolution in the way people commute with ROBOCAB. Let us understand what Musk plans to bring to the table with fully automated RoboTaxis and Tesla Robot ‘Optimus’ in detail.

THE BIG REVEAL

Tesla has taken a big leap into the future of hyper-automation with the big release of its latest on the block- CyberCab. Revealed at the "We, Robot" event at Warner Bros Studios in Burbank, California, this futuristic vehicle represents a bold new direction for the automotive industry, one that is heavily reliant on AI, is wireless, and battery-charged.

Revealed in 2022; Tesla’s Optimus can walk forward, squat down, sort objects based on color, balance on one leg, lift an object with one arm, and squeeze an object and lift it. Its Optimus Gen 2 is light-years ahead of the early versions.

THE DISTINCTIVE DESIGN

At the nuclei of the Cybercab lies Tesla’s advanced AI system; which is designed to navigate complex urban environments using sophisticated computer vision and machine learning algorithms. When talking of Tesla’s approach to Cybercab; centers itself around a camera-based system with power-packed artificial intelligence. This evolves as the AI technology that powers the Cybercab is trained on a vast amount of data collected from Tesla’s existing fleet of vehicles. Adding to the flurry, Tesla’s Optimus ‘with a brain’ has a visual navigation system managed by fully trained, end-to-end neural networks to get around. With an interactive screen for displaying and communicating information; it performs actions with a self-driving computer located at its chest.

AUTONOMOUS TECHNOLOGY

This product has convinced everyone to achieve complete automation. It heavily relies on its neural network; which continuously evolves and trains on the data collected from its fleet of vehicles. ‘Fleet Learning’ Feature stands out and fosters artificial intelligence to encounter and get nuanced from an array of driving scenarios. It offers real-time driving insights and leverages this real-world driving data; targeting the creation of an AI system that guarantees success in driving across diverse scenarios and conditions. Tesla CEO Elon Musk; further went on to assure that AI systems powering CyberCab shall make the self-driven cars genre a 30-times safer than a human-driven vehicle. The reveal also saw CyberVan- a concept for a larger autonomous vehicle; capable of carrying up to 20 people.
